Jacob’s Joy 5k Run/Walk

Jacob’s Joy 5k run/walk was held on Saturday March 22 at Tanglewood Park in Clemmons.

On March 25, 2013, 27-month old Jacob Edwin Kratzer unexpectedly passed away. The cause of his death is unknown, and is now classified under SUDC (Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood). SUDC is a rare condition that occurs when a healthy child over one-year old dies without warning, and a cause of death is never determined. SUDC is so rare that it only occurs in 1.5 out of 100,000 toddlers.

Tiffany and Russ, Jacob’s parents, hosted the 5k walk/run to bring awareness to SUDC and to honor the memory of their son. The event brought families, old friends and new friends together to celebrate Jacob’s memory. After the walk/run, there was a lunch and activities for the children. All proceeds of the event went to the research of SUDC through the CJ Foundation.
